digitality

In this ongoing series of drawings, sized 29 x 41 cm / 50 x 65 cm, Rappard investigates intuitively what it means to be human in our current, fluid world of ephemeral contact, online identities and overflowing amounts of information.

The figures in these drawings wander lonely through dense structures and abstract surroundings, inhabitated by silhouettes, masks and shadowfigures. It is ambiguous whether man finds redemption in these abstract surroundings or rather gets entangled in the spatial structures, which, with their passageways and repetitive patterns, remind of a hall of mirrors.
