Tales that End at Midnight as an artist book is loosely based on Eleanor Cattons novel The Luminaries in which every chapter is half the size of the previous one and the story, though narrated from many perspectives, is never told completely. Moving towards the centre of my book the pages become smaller and the drawings zoom in on details, to disperse and become larger again towards the end of the book. The pages of different sizes show clearly how the work is layered and every time you turn a page you see a different combination of fragmentized stories. With this form I wanted to emphasize the suggestion of a story that is ever interrupted, remains unfinished or is recaptured in a whole other place.
Published in 2016. Size a4.
